Being homeless is bad enough, but being a homeless teenager with shabby-looking clothes is even worse. Job interviews become impossible and one’s self-esteem, already low because of homelessness, is damaged even further. However, if you feel good about the way you look it can improve your self-esteem.  And jeans are always in style. You can’t tell how much money somebody’s making if they’re wearing jeans.

Enter “Teens For Jeans”, a national campaign in partnership with Aeropostale and DoSomething.org, the largest not-for-profit organization for young people and social change.

Over a million young people experience homelessness in the United States every year and one of the most requested items that young people in homeless shelters ask for is a pair of jeans.

In the past seven years, young people across the country have collected over 4.3 million pairs of jeans through Teens for Jeans. It is our hope that the young people who donate as well as the ones who receive the jeans will be blessed and impacted by the experience.

In support of this awesome cause, Mill Creek High School in Hoschton, Ga., and Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church in Dacula, Ga., are collecting jeans for Teens For Jeans.

Members of the Hamilton Mill community can support Mill Creek’s or HMUMC’s drive by dropping off their gently used denim at Mill Creek High School or Hamilton Mill United Methodist’s Church’s locations from now until February 12.
